Thailand – Introduction
About
Thailand is also known as backpackers favorite place to go because of the cheap accommodation, food and drink mostly on the north side then south of Bangkok.
You will most likely arrive in one of two Bangkok airports Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang.
Visa on arrival costs 2000 Baths or about 60$ per person, so when you leave your country you have that money with you, they only take bath and no other currency. There is a exchange there but the exchange rate is extremely bad and you can end up paying almost 3000 Bath for a visa
From Suvarnabhumi you can take the SRTET City Line for about 30 bath but from Don Mueang there is no direct train so the only two options left are bus for about 10 bath or taxi for about 350 bath.
Bangkok
We suggest staying at least two or three days, the city is full of things to do especially after sunset. The cheapest place to stay is around Khaosan Road also known as backpackers road they go for as low as 3$ per night (check it here).
1. Khaosan Road – Most crazy street you must visit at least once in your life. Nightlife will be crazy every day.
2. The Grand Palace – A complex of buildings at the heart of Bangkok. Be careful of people telling you it’s closed scamming tourist here works like a charm.
3. Floating Market – Actually there are 5 the one we recommend on visiting is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market with a lot more things to visit and do.
4. Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) – In my opinion the most beautiful temple in Bangkok but that’s my opinion
5.
Chiang Mai
This should be your second stop in Thailand, it’s the most cheap and has the best food. To get there you can either fly or use a bus. Buses from Bangkok to Chiang Mai depart every hour from morning to evening from Mo Chit Station. The bus takes roughly 10 hours.
There are a lot of temples to visit but you main stops should be at Doi Suthep and Doi Inthanon National Park then after you are done you must go and visit one of the multiple elephant
Pattaya
If you are looking for girls and party then here is the place to go, cheap drinks and a lot of bars for every pocket range. The Walking Street
Koh Phangan
Or better known for
Phuket
Traveling from Bangkok to Phuket might take a long time but flights are cheap for around 15$ (check it here), once you get at the airport if you arrive before 8 in the evening there will be buses to take you everywhere but after you are kinda out of luck and cheapest taxi you will find will be around 1000 bath so i suggest you find someone that goes same direction and split the taxi. Also Do not user UBER or GRAB inside the airport walk outside.
There are plenty of places where to stay but we recommend Patong and Kata, altho Kata is kinda dead and not a lot of things to do.
Patong
Phi Phi
If you plan to take day trip tours, we suggest you do it one at the time and do not do a 12 in one or 6 in one tours.
A lot of tours will offer you plenty of things to do but most of them are very rushed and you can barely do or see anything
Take it slow and visit them one by one or if you cannot do it now do it another time.
This will be the most visited items in almost every tour:
1. Khai Nui Island
2. Khai Island
3. Yao Island
4. Maya Bay
5. Loh Samah Bay
6. Monkey Cave
7. Phi Phi Don
8. Snorkeling at Chang Hai
